Joel and Linda

Linda is now off work and we are looking forward to getting the camper out on the kids property near Saxon. We have a lot to do out there this year and hope we get some good weather to get all this done. We have 150 feet of underground cable to bury for the power to the camper and we are planing to use the camper and its water system to allow us to wash up and do dishes. I still want to build Joellen the outdoor kitchenette and hopefully we can get that done. We have enough water barrels and containers to keep the 30 gallon water tank in the camper full.  We have the pump in the camper to provide pressurized water and not to mention the hot water heater to provide hot water. We have selected the spot for the camper to park and it will be in a very nice location for use there and easy to pull out when we want to take trips at any time.

With Linda off work she is trying to catch up on things around the house and finish the projects she started like painting and other things.  I have some things that I want to get done like clean out the garage and figure out if I am going to replace the garage door with a utility door and window.

Well we had our weekend in Duluth Minn. and stayed at Fitgers, the 5 star rated, Hotel for an over night. We went up the night before and stayed at a motel so I could attend a Ham Radio swapfest the 3rd. Well the weather was real bad Friday of that weekend but by Saturday morning the rain had stopped and it turned out to be a nice day. We checked into Fitgers on Saturday and it sure was a 5 Star Hotel. The room (400) had a nice king siz bed, balcony and with two TV’s, kitchenette and whirlpool. We had a nice time in town and Linda had fun at the Casino and shopping. Had a nice walk on the “Lake Walk” and the morning was just wonderful on Sunday. We were joined by Jack and Carol , our friends from Wisconsin, and went out to dinner with them. Here are a few shots of our vacation in Duluth. Now you have to understand that Fitgers is a brewery converted into the Hotel. It was a total clock reset for the both of us.

Murphy

Murphy is coming along fine and getting bigger. We have had him a month now and he is 4 months old. Below are his before and after pictures and he is a real busy puppy. We have had him out in the back yard and he enjoys running around the yard and chasing the cat. He got his hair cut and also a visit to the Vet for three shots. We have to finish puppy proofing the rest of the house as he is able to now navigate the stairs and can make it upstairs now. Hopefully we can get him used to riding in the trucks and that has been a little touch and go but getting better.

Bob and Joellen

On Saturday, May 3rd Sara participated in the State Solo and Ensemble Music Competition at UW-Parkside. She played an alto solo piece, alto solo in a sax septet, tenor sax in the jazz ensemble piece and an alto clarinet in clarinet choir. She received gold medals for three events but got a silver in the jazz ensemble. Still a great showing. In May she’ll also be auditioning for the UW-Milwaukee Youth Jazz Ensemble.

Dave is getting ready for graduation. Only a few short weeks left. His last day will be June 5th. The graduation ceremony will be at Horlick High School on Sunday, June 8th. Dave is looking forward to all the family coming into town for the party afterwards. Right after graduation he’ll start working at the day care where he worked during spring break. He says he really enjoyed working there.Dave also attended his first freshman orientation out at UW-Parkside. He’s all registered for classes and will begin in the fall right after Labor Day. He hasn’t picked his major yet but he plans on getting his teacher certification to work with early elementary students.Bob has been busy playing his drums and trying to put together a casual band. Joellen is preparing for the big graduation weekend and the bead show in Milwaukee. It ought to be a very busy weekend.

Frank and Sara

Nothing too much astray from the usual ridiculousness around here. Sara took a girls’ trip to the Poconos with our friend Michelle. Michelle drove from her home near Boston, where we usually take a trip around the forth of July [they have an awesome pool]. Sara and Michelle both work for HP in unusual HP locations, and her husband Tommy is another NFL nut so we kind of clicked right away. My apologies on the Superbowl there Tommy . . . I digress. Anyway, so Sara showed Michelle Bushkill Falls and all of our usual haunts in the mountains. Sara was up there from Thursday until Sunday afternoon. So, I got to thinking, we already paid for the whole week, and I work for myself. So, after talking to my biggest clients who all said, “Are you crazy? Go!” I went. So long story short, we each got some me time in the mountains. We’d definitely like to have you visit us there some time.

Besides that, the only other big event was the annual Springer picnic last weekend. So many Springers. They were everywhere. Sara was kidding me that most people attend in order to interact with other members of the rescue group who come from all over the mid-Atlantic states, and that I go in order to interact with the dogs. We actually got Jamie to come along too.

Chris and Shelly

Chris got to take some interesting pictures of a train wreck in Arkansas, as a reporter for the college, and he was urged to contact the news media for a circulation of his photos. He contacted a couple of news agencies and they accepted and published them.
